End of May

This past weekend was Memorial Day. Of the amount of triva that I have stored in my head, dont really know anything about the day. I do know that people go around and put flowers on family graves, but other than that, Memorial Day only signifies the beginning of Summer. The actually first day of summer wont happen until June 21st or there abouts [its the Summer soltice], but Monday was the start of the commerical summer.
Growing up, if school wasnt out, Memorial Day marked that the end of the school year was here. It meant that the pools were to be open soon, and that the lazy days of no school and trouble aming were about.
It wasnt until coming off my Mission that Memorial Day took a new meaning. Working at the Agriculture Reseach Center in Temple, it marked the end of nearly 3 months without a holiday. It is a long stretch from Presidents Day to Memorial Day, with little reasons to take off and do stuff in between. It became a reason to do outdoor things.
Recently over the past 2 years Memorial Day has become about the social aspect of BBQ-ing and hanging out. It is an inherent family-oriented holiday, and as I become less and less family-oriented I find that socializing with familar faces and friends on the day is a good thing.
But now the end of May is here. I was looking at the future run and saw that I was looking at 3 more weeks of classes before I was done for the term. I am amazed how fast the last 4 weeks have gone by. This term has been...for a lack of a better phrase....a relaxed hurry. By that I mean, that even though assignments feel like they are being assigned and due at such a frantic pace, the time just has been enjoyable, and easy going.
