A Notion of A Weekend...
I left campus as late as normal on a Friday night. I would have been later but there were things I had wanted to do. I stayed as late as I did, in order to get things done so I could have a weekend to focus on one of my other projects.
Back up for a moment...
I volunteered to work on an exit polling project for the Salt Lake Mayoral race, because I find exit polls to be interesting [its more of their design]. I couldn't be paid for my efforts as I had already hit the artificial 20 hour mark BYU places on students, so I felt that it would be a good resume item and if anything I could get a letter of recommendation out of the faculty overseeing the project.
So, I have been working on a project for 4 weeks now, maybe more. I have put into it as of today 80+ hours of solid labor and effort. Originally I was told it would be 20 to 30 hours max on my end, but due to people not following thru with assignments, I hate to see things not done and not done right and on time, I have stepped up my involvement.
There was a problem that occurred this week due to a "keystroke error" in an excel spreadsheet and therefore intervals were off...way off...
A crisis occurred and I had to fix it Friday...on the phone with the PoliSci department faculty...right as I told myself I was going home to work on a project. It was not good. I fixed the problem...I emailed them the new intervals and starting points...and told them, I wasnt working on it again until Monday...
Saturday checking emails, I saw that I had 25 emails dealing with the exit poll. I was not happy as they ended with "needed ASAP." When the easiest solution would have been to put two students together and have them spend 20 minutes doing it so I would have to come to campus load everything and then have 3 documents merged into a single document...
It did not end. Sunday, I came to campus and did just that [it took me about an hour as I had to wade thru 25 emails with what was needed and put it together...BY MYSELF...]
What was planned for the weekend? Well simply a lot.
I worked on the shed some more. Yes I am building a shed. It will be a nice 8x12 foot space for storage in the backyard. The floor is done except for a row of screws I need to put in. But there was need to clear more of the overgrown plum trees along the fence in an effort to make ready for putting up walls this weekend.
Friday night, I left campus to go to a ward Halloween party which maybe had 20 people total for the evening, because I had spent a week hearing about a custom ideas. Also there is a girl who I think is hot, who was attending to help out a friend make someone else jealous. Let me just say, she is hot...
Saturday besides a shed, I had to work on a presentation for the web analytics competition that I am participating in. I spent a better part of the afternoon making things up for the presentation, knowing I will be spending the next few days "fine tuning" the presentation. I needed somewhere to go from.
I did have some reading that I wanted to do, but I had not time. There was homework to be done, but I was busy doing otherthans. It was a long weekend. I accomplished some, but not enough to make me excited about the new week. I feel that tonight will be a long one. Oh well.
