A Saturday on Strike...
So I didnt think I could enjoy Saturdays. I spend most them the exact same way. I get up, I piddle around and then head to campus, spending the rest of the day on or around campus working on various projects for school and helping other people with their school work.
What was the first Saturday of my strike like. Well it was wonderful. I woke up. Went out and played Ultimate Frisbee for a while. Came home and spent a couple of hours working on the shed project. Went to a meeting dealing with a web competition I am participating in. Returned home and built the sub-frame of the floor for the shed.
This is to augment the fact that I spent the evening before moving the logs that Carter and I had gone and lumberjack-ed the previous month in order to get to the area where the shed is to sit. This morning I spent the time cleaning and clearing crap from the area. Mostly this consisted of plums [stupid plum tree]. (side note: the plums for some reason seem to multiply rapidly once on the ground and the is an interesting phenomenon...not so different than tribbles.) Once the area was cleared, I started by measuring the approximate location of where the corners would be and then placed the corner spots. After toting out the surveying level, I got help and measured how far from level the corners were...pretty bad...
After my meeting on the web competition, I returned home and added dirt to places and took dirt from others, re-measured and then got the lumber for the frame. A werid side thought occured to me while at Home Depot...Why would a 2x6x10 be cheaper than a 2x6x8? and we are talking a lot cheaper (7.95 versus 12.95)...
When screwing in the last part of the frame it started to snow...which was good...I needed to actually spend time on campus working on the exit poll project...
